Jack was born in 1907 in Croydon,Surrey, England. Jack's father was Alan Kenward and his mother was Ella Spalding. His paternal grandparents were Spencer Kenward and Lucy Payne. He had three brothers and a sister, named George, Albert, Arthur and Irene. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 82 in 1989 in West Croydon, Surrey, England.
