Bertha was born in 1896 in Horley, Surrey, England. Bertha's father was Josiah Kenward and her mother was Mary Maynard. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Kenward and Amelia Daniels. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Josiah, James, Arthur, Ronald, Clarence, Elizabeth, Florence, Gertrude, Mabel, Beatrice and Grace. She was the fifth youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 23 in 1919 in Horley, Surrey, England.
